Schedule
Our school follows a structured four-term schedule, consisting of two longer terms and two shorter terms. During the longer terms, held Monday through Friday, students take six classes in addition to participating in an advisory group. In the shorter January and June terms, students focus on two elective classes. Students can earn 0.50 credit for each class they successfully complete, allowing them to earn up to 8.5 credits per year toward the 24-credit graduation requirement.

This academic structure is designed to offer a diverse range of learning opportunities and to encourage students to explore courses that align with their interests and passions.

Forecasting
Forecasting is the act of requesting classes for next year's schedule. Students forecast in the spring in preparation for the following school year.

DCHS Honors Diploma
The Honors Diploma requires a minimum of 28 credits earned through a planned program of study that exceeds Oregon’s standard graduation requirements. Students earning this distinction receive special recognition during Senior Awards and at Graduation. The Honors Portfolio is due by February 1 of the senior year.

Expanded Options
The Expanded Options program allows high school students to take college-level courses that are not offered at the high school. Financial assistance is available for eligible Chemeketa Community College classes through this program.

Students must apply, provide their own transportation, and complete the Chemeketa placement tests. Applications are due at least six weeks before the college class begins. Interested students should contact the school counselor for more information and support with the application process.

Credit Recovery Options
If a student falls behind in earning credits, we offer several ways to help them get back on track. Students should meet with the school counselor to explore available options.

January/June Term Classes: We offer recovery classes during these shorter terms for students that need to make up credits.

Off Campus Work Experience: Students can earn 0.5 elective credit per longer term by working 10 hours per week. A maximum of 3 Work Experience credits can be earned on your high school transcript.
