About Us

DCS is a program founded by Community Innovation Partners, a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to supporting the entire Dallas learning community through educational opportunities that emphasize innovation, creativity, and individualized learning. We believe in the power of community-based learning as a cornerstone for the development of the next generation of innovators, leaders, and informed citizens. Dallas Community School students and Dallas School District as a whole will benefit from future Community Innovation Partners’ projects and programs, including increased access to technology and access to open learning environments that foster creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Dallas Community School is a tuition-free, public charter school based in the heart of the downtown Dallas community. As a public charter we are part of the Dallas School District and are accountable to their standards of education, but we are given flexibility in our setting for how those standards are measured and how our students meet them. Our Kindergarten through eighth grade (K-8) program is geared toward students who are learning in a home/community-based environment. Our High School program is similarly non-traditional and focuses on project based learning that spans across the different academic disciplines. We pride ourselves on employing administrators, teachers, and support staff who are dedicated to doing education differently. We recognize that traditional education does not meet the needs of every student and that our world needs places for non-traditional learners and families to grow. Together it is our goal to create an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and dedication first in our teachers and then in our students. Through collaboration a more holistic education is possible.
